René Paul Salathé ’s research activities at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) covered medical laser applications, biomedical optics, industrial applications of Excimer-, Nd-YAG-, diode-, and femtosecond-lasers, and automated assembly technologies for optical systems. He retired from his teaching duties in 2010 and continued working as consultant to private companies and as technology expert for assessing the impact of research activities in private and public organizations. Currently he is working as technology consultant to a private capital advisor firm, for a company manufacturing embossing tools, as Senior Partner with ExpertInnova SA, and as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Essential Medical Devices Foundation.
